Why I Paint.
I paint for a different reason than most conventional artists today. Vincent Van Gogh was a master who was well known for his use of colour, especially in the way he blended reality into the abstract. I use colour to blend the abstract into the existence of the painting itself. I don’t know what inspires me more…It is the impetus and not knowing the reason why. The driving force for me is actually a lack of choice. I can’t NOT paint. It is integral to who I am.
I do not know what I am trying to say with my work, or if there is even a message. I do not know if the paintings bury feelings or dig them up, but for me it is a pure outlet in those moments when brush meets the canvas, I let the painting happen. I do not know if the shapes I paint have meaning or not, but my work is different. It stands apart, in its movement and vibrancy.
I CAN’T NOT PAINT. My paintings speak to the Joy of Life and the harsh Truth of Despair
